Sunday Shop Update

Hello friends,

I'm here with another Sunday Shop Update for you. I know most of you know that I draw a lot, make a ton of jewelry, and have even dabbled in the flower crown making business. But did you know I sew clothes on that rare occasion too? Well, this week I want to share with you one of my favorite pieces that is up in the shop currently. This shabby chic duster is a one of a kind piece and fits up to an extra large/ size 16. I'm generally a large to extra large, and this fits me mostly well. It's a bit tight on my around the chest, so it should fit up to a 36" bust rather well. Again, this is a one of a kind piece made with vintage fabrics and can not be reproduced again exactly. Check it out now, and grab it while it's still there!!

Friday Favorites no.14

Hello friends,

This week has been a gloomy week. And to be honest, I didn't do much besides show up to my day job and browse the internet. Though, that does make for a good Friday Favorites post. There's also been many hours logged on watching Netflix, but we'll talk more about that next week. We'll just call it research for blogging...yea that's totally what it is.

With all that down time, I've had multiple opportunities to scour the internet for treasures. This week's post is very whimsical and exactly what a grey week like this one needs. This time of year, I always tend to gravitate towards more vibrant colors. Pittsburgh skies are always so grey during the winter, and days can kind of run together. Bringing color into my world helps fight the winter blues. Hopefully, this list of cute, weird, and definitely colorful list brightens up your day too!

This amazing man that matches his makeup to his snacks. I die.

I have been eye balling this bag for about 6 years now.

Hello friends,

As you know, I am a huge supporter of small businesses as I own one myself! This year, I've made it a solid goal of mine to practice what I preach and start buying more from small businesses, specifically from Etsy.  Some of you may have seen my post from the other day about my jean vest, and how I'm filling it up with patches and pins. The first round of patches have mostly come from Etsy. You guys should check out my favorites list, there's a ton of patches and pins from some really amazing shops. I wanted to highlight and share the shops that I've purchased from recently because they all have really standout costumer service, and were all so very kind when it came to talking with me about my orders. Jade Boylan's package came with a few little extras, as did my Creepy Gals order. I really appreciate when shops go above and beyond with their gestures. It truly shows they care about what they're doing and about their shops. Packaging and appearance really makes all the difference and really makes them stand out. Check out all the links for these shops, they're really worth a look!!!

Have you bought anything from Etsy lately??

Pastel Paradise

Hello friends,

Today, I wanted to share a little color theory post dedicated to the gorgeous color family of pastels! Anything candy colored, bright, and girly tends to draw my eye more than any neon or super saturated color ever could. I grew up a Barbie girl, and ever since I can remember pastel Pink has been in my top 5 all time favorite colors. As I get older, the more I'm giving into that side of myself. There were a few years, back in the day, that I completely denied myself the joy of pastel and bright colors. Teen angst has a way of sucking all the color out of your life. But, now that I've shaken off all that teenage blah-ness I have candy coated my world.

This post is a round up of some lovely images, and a couple tutorials that are all pastel themed. I've been loving these color theory posts, and I figured I'd branch out and do more than one color. Once Bry and I get our own place, I can assure you that there will be an obnoxious amount of pastel colored decor and appliances in our home. He may not like it, but I don't care.  I'm trying to slowly bring some of that into our home now, but it's difficult to ideally decorate a space that isn't your own, and when you're sharing space with others.

For this spring, I am trying to add more color into my wardrobe. more pink specifically. I have a lot of grey and brown in my collection, and I've noticed over the past few years my wardrobe has become rather dull and boring. There's a lot of plain, no pattern type of things in there, and most of my pieces are so old. I'm doing my best to cycle things out as I acquire new things. Bring on all the flowers, all the pastel colors, and all the candy coated good I can take!! I'm ready for it!!

What colors has you guys inspired lately?

weekly update no.4

PhotoGrid_1453598207536

Hello friends,

I'm back with another weekly update! This week in Pittsburgh we had a rather large snow storm that 'forced' me to stay inside. I say 'forced' because I hate going out in the cold, so I guess it was just a really good excuse to stay in this week. But, with staying in comes incredible amounts of productivity. I finally finished two of my hand stitched dolls that will be going on in the shop some time next month. I'm going to try and finish a few more before I list any of them. But, these two little gals are totally done and probably some of the cutest dolls I've ever made! I've really been enjoying the process of making these little friends. I love seeing their personalities take shape as I progress with their creation. So far, making the shoes is my favorite part. I think those little moccassins are just so stinkin' cute!! I've started two more dolls this week that I think will eventually turn into little faeries once their done. These ones will be much more intricate. I love putting a lot of detail into my dolls, I feel like that makes them stand out against the sea of hand made dolls on Instagram and Etsy.

Other than tons of doll making, there hasn't been much going on this week. Bry and I didn't even go out on my days off, other than to go to the grocery store. The snow is pretty, but I don't like playing in it. As much as I love Pittsburgh, I hate the cold and the winter. I do not belong in cold weather states haha! My hair is getting longer frickin' finally, and I can put it up in a tiny little baby bun- it's very exciting to me!! I also went to a flea market with my clients at work this past weekend and found myself the cutest little Grateful Dead Bear plush. His name is 'Friend o' Mine' after the song 'Friend of the Devil'. I've been a Deadhead since I was 15, and the cute little Dead Bears are my favorite Dead characters. I couldn't pass him up, I just had to have him. He's currently sitting on the table at the foot of our bed watching over us while we sleep.

Snapchat and blogging have also been a big part of this week. Snapchat has come out with some silly 'filter faces' (that's what Bry and I call them) and it's been really fun sending goofy videos and photos back and forth to Bry and baby brother, David. I'm trying my best to stick with my blogging schedule this month, and to get back into a solid routine when it comes to this blog. Truth be told, I am not the most consistent blogger, but 2016 is the year I'm working on changing that. This year, I've also made it a goal to buy from smaller sellers, and purchase more from fellow Etsy sellers. The tank top I'm wearing in the photo below is from Skyline Fever- the husband of the ever amazing and inspirational Laura of Roots and Feathers.  I recently purchased it from his Etsy shop and it is seriously the my comfortable thing I own at the moment. Eventually, I would like to do a proper photo shoot and style it right, but it had just come in the mail and it was too comfy not to wear!

Hopefully, next week is just as fun as this week was. It went quickly, it was easy, and I got a lot done! Those are my favorite kind of weeks. What have you guys been up to this week?

xoxo. Holly Erinn
