Kraft Paper Brown

Hello friends,

I'm back with another color theory post, but this time it's with a color that you may not expect to be celebrated. Kraft paper brown. There's something about this shade of brown that gets my imagination going like nothing else! A blank white piece of paper can be soooo intimidating but a nice piece of soft kraft paper brown in just enough color to inspire some of the funkiest drawings out of me. There were a few years after college when I came home and scoured the surrounding areas for every piece of scrapped cardboard to draw on. My dad would bring me huge boxes that we would cut down for drawing pieces, and I was just obsessed. Like, legit obsessed. Have you ever heard of some one having an artist love affair with cardboard? No, me either. I'm a weirdo, but there's something so special about that shade of brown. The photos I've gathered for you today are ones that have been inspiring me lately. I really want to make that race track for my nephew and niece. I think they'd have a blast with it.....or rip it shreds. Yea, Calvin would totally wreck it, but it'd be fun as hell to watch him do it. I really love the contrast of colors between the brown envelope and bright yellow stickers. That color combination really caught my eye this week, and is making me want to go to Walmart are hunt down those stickers!!

Which project above is inspiring you?

Rose Golden Girls

Hello friends,

In the past, I've done a couple of these color themed posts (yellow & white) and you guys seemed to really like them. This week, I wanted to share a color with you that I've been completely obsessed with recently. Rose gold seems to be the hot color right now, and especially as we roll into spring in the next few months! This color just looks so stunning on EVERYONE of all shades of beautiful! For my birthday, I even received a gorgeous rose gold computer case from my awesome dad. I've loving the use of it on the home fixtures in the photos here below. Since Bry and I have been talking about moving, I've been thinking about decorating a lot more. I'm also wondering if that hair color is close enough to a 'natural' color to where I could get away with it at work...probably not.

Have you guys been gushing over any trendy colors lately?

Sunshine Yellow

Hello friends,

Continuing with my color theory theme, this week's color is yellow. Yellow has always been in my top 3 favorite colors of all time; after green and pink, respectively. It's the happiest color in the world and makes everything better! One of my favorite room at the house in Glassport is painted yellow. It used to be my mom's craft room. She painted sunflowers all around the top. It's going to be my office/living room/ Landon's room/ guest room....really just a multipurpose room once we move back to Glassport. It's a lovely little room that will get tons of love. And, it has the very best natural light. It faces the back of the house that gets the most beautiful morning sun. It shines through the pear tree and makes the yellow walls shimmer with the warmest light. Maybe it's just me, but the sunflowers seem to dance in the sunshine!

I've always wanted a yellow house. Or, maybe just a yellow front door would look nice. I love the things in this list. Yellow makes any space a little happier, and that house definitely needs more of that. Maybe, I'll paint the stairwell yellow, or maybe all the ceilings, or maybe just everything in the house will be yellow. I believe I've gone a little yellow mad, but at least the house will be cheery!! I should stop now. I'll get back to you on all of this later haha!

What's your favorite color?

Blinded by the White

Hello friends,

Yesterday in the Friday Favorites post, I talked a bunch about redecorating and the move back to Glassport. I think about decorating far too much. I like interior design, what can I say?! My family has never had the 'perfect' house. We were never all put together, or all that tidy...let's be honest. But as I get older, I have come to appreciate a simpler way of living and decorating. I love a modern white design. Even if I incorporate this trend in small ways, I can see this working in our house.

I love how clean and bright everything in this list is. The combination of natural woods and earth tones mixed with white is very appealing to me. It's a lovely balance that I feel could fit our styles well. Bryan's kind of a neat freak, and I'm....not. He says I'm lazy, I say I'm artistically disorganized. Either way, I need to get a bit more organized before I could really pull of this look.

What design trends have caught your eye recently??
