MOTD: Peachy Keen with a Rosy Sheen

Hello Friends!!

I'm here with a makeup look that I tried the other day. I've been really into neutral looks recently, and it's a pretty rare thing for me to stray from those earthy brown tones. I've noticed that even if I plan on using fun colors, I'll always reach for those earthy colors. That's something I'm working on. But! Today's look....I tried to go a little heavier today, but once photographed...it totally didn't turn out as bold as it looked in the mirror. That's another thing I'm working on. Bold makeups aren't really in my comfort zone, but I see all of these amazing makeup artists on Instagram that do these big, bold looks that really inspire me. So, I'm practicing looks that I hope some how match up. But I know I need more practice...it makes perfect, right?!

This look was created using a combination of Urban Decay, and NYX Cosmetics eye shadows, NYX mascara and matte lip cream, and Sonia Kashuk cream blush. I've really been stuck on NYX recently, there products are in my budget, and they're always very good quality. I've come to notice over the years that I gravitate towards the "cheaper" end of cosmetics...mostly because I'm poor as hell. Urban Decay is my 'splurge' makeup. I wish I could afford the makeup that those bigger bloggers use, but honestly, you can create something just as nice with a drug store brand!

I always try and photograph my look with my glasses on as well, because I always wear my glasses for 'real life'. I literally can not see 3 ft in front of me. My glasses are so huge and often hide a lot of my makeup looks once I throw them on. So my makeup test is whether or not I can still look well put together once I put them on. Which brings me back to my point...I need to learn how to do bolder looks. Specifically for this reason.

As you can see, my comfort zone is a super blown out look. Which is a good look for some, and usually is my go to look for the day to day. With this face, I wanted to do a simple, easy brow to compliment the blown out look of the shadow. I really like to pair my brown tones with some pink or peachy tones. I feel like that combination goes really well with my skin tone. Believe it or not, under that dark mane is a ginger kind...yup I am a red head, if you didn't already know. So, naturally my skin has a bit of a red tint to it. I burn like crazy, and blush far too easily. When I go to apply blush, I have to be very careful because if I'm having a particularly gingery day, I can look like a little holly berry....red as red can be, and it's just not flattering.
So, my fellow redheads, be careful when applying your blush- it's very easy to over do it!
